Clickers: Increasing interaction and learning in large & medium size classrooms (CTE726)

Monday, December 12, 2016 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Location: EV1 241  Notes: Open to faculty and staff (registration is required)

One challenge in larger classes is getting everyone to answer questions and to tell how well the class understands the answers.  Using clickers[1] is one way instructors and students both receive quick feedback to meet that challenge.  This hands on session will introduce you to the mechanics of using the university supported iClicker devices as well as to REEF Polling, the mobile version of iClicker, and discuss the differences between the two tools and the advantages of each.  You will also learn some different ways of using them in your class and discuss some best practices.

For a head start on the session, take a look at this short YouTube video about clickers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpAEx2abKBQ.

[1] A clicker is a smart phone app or a small, portable device (like a remote control) that lets every student provide an answer that is collected for instructor and student feedback.
