Thursday, January 13, 2022 — 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST

Location: Online

Facilitators: Jason Thompson (CTE), Stephen Tosh (IST) and Rebecca Hutchinson (Library)

Please note: this workshop is intended for instructors.

This two-hour session will introduce you to LEARN (D2L Brightspace), uWaterloo's course management system for presenting course activities and resources in on-campus and fully online courses. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • use the LEARN environment to communicate with your students via Announcements and Classlist,
  • make decisions around the most effective way to organize your course material in the Content area,
  • set up the course assessment scheme in the Grades area,
  • use provided resources to support exploring more of the tools available within LEARN on your own.

Depending on time and interest during the session, we may have the opportunity to explore other LEARN tools such as discussions, dropboxes, or quizzes.

This session also includes a general overview of considerations for copyright and how to incorporate course reserves into your LEARN site.

Registration required (if this is your first time using GoSignMeUp, you will need to set up your account first). If you have changed roles at the University (e.g., graduate student to faculty) please update your "Participant Profile" in your GoSignMeUp account.

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
