Description

New Faculty Orientation

Faculty members who started at Waterloo after (or who missed) the new faculty events in August and September are invited to an information session on January 29, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Representatives from the Centre for Teaching Excellence and the Faculty Association will be there to share information and answer questions about starting your career at UW.

Before the session

In advance of this live session, we encourage to look through the recordings and resources from our 2020 August New Faculty Teaching Days and September Orientation events. These are curated for you in the January New Faculty Day content module in the New Faculty Orientation site on LEARN (UW’s online course management system). The LEARN site also features a checklist for new faculty, important links, a collection of recent campus-wide communications, and a campus resource directory. Please email the New Faculty Planning Committee at newfacultyorientation@uwaterloo.ca if you did not receive an invitation or cannot find the meeting link in LEARN.

Up next

You're also invited to an informal social in Microsoft Teams on February 11, 2021 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. This informal gathering is intended for new faculty members to get to know one another and is open to all new faculty from the last couple of years. Click here to join or call (833) 827-4832 and enter the conference ID 830 402 598#.

Accessibility

The University of Waterloo is committed to achieving barrier-free accessibility for persons with disabilities who are visiting, studying, or working at Waterloo. CTE’s online workshops are delivered through either WebEx, Microsoft Teams, or Bongo with the audio component available either as captioning or a transcript. CTE’s face-to-face workshops typically involve a mix of presentation and discussion-based activities, and we encourage a scent-free environment. We welcome accompanying assistants, interpreters, and note-takers. If you have questions concerning access, such as parking, building layouts, or obtaining workshop content in alternative formats, or wish to request accommodations for our programming, please let us know by emailing cte@uwaterloo.ca. Please note that some accommodations may require time to arrange.
