Pure Mathematics

Frank Zorzitto has been a faculty member in the Department of Pure Mathematics since 1975. Throughout his 18 years of service he has been a dedicated scholar and teacher. He has also served as chair of the department from 1986 to 1992. Professor Zorzitto has a long record of teaching excellence in a variety of mathematics courses. He clearly loves to teach. His own enjoyment and enthusiasm are conveyed to his students and he is able to instill in them an appreciation of the beauty and importance of mathematics. What makes professor Zorzitto a truly outstanding teacher, however, is the genuine care and concern he has for his students. He has been described by students as a mentor and counsellor. Other student comments include: “He made me discover the beauty of the subject,” his “explanations are careful and thorough,” and he “gives encouragement” and “expects students to work hard.”
