Blessing Medon, is a fourth-year Ph.D. Candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Passionate about teaching and dedicated to making a global impact through environmental research. Blessing graduated with a BSc. Hons. in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and an MSc. from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Her research focuses on the transport and monitoring of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in environmental aqueous systems. Blessing’s global experience has cultivated a keenness for productive collaboration across disciplines and sectors, and has led to the commercialization of her first product in partnership with water industry stakeholders, as part of her doctoral research. She aims to contribute to a greener world by producing more environmentally efficient processes and products that interrupt classical non-green procedures in the water industry.

Blessing has received university teaching training through the Faculty of Engineering’s ExpecTAtions program (2019), the Centre for Teaching Excellence’s (CTE) Fundamentals program (2020) and as part of her ongoing Certificate in University Teaching program with the CTE. She has experience as a laboratory instructor, teaching assistant and CTE workshop facilitator.  She has enjoyed delivering several public presentations and lectures. Blessing is enthusiastic about implementing learner-centred pedagogy in her classrooms and enjoys supporting students in gaining confidence in new knowledge.
