CTE provides an array of programs and services for faculty and staff. To arrange a one-on-one consulation with one of our staff members, please consult our Support for Instructional and Curricular Development list to identify whom to contact. In the 2020-2021 fiscal year we provided 4841 consultations to 1313 instructors.
Additionally, almost every week of every term, we deliver workshops and other sessions on topics pertaining to classroom dynamics, delivery skills, course design, blended learning, new educational technologies, ePortfolios, and more; in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, we delivered 170 workshops to over 1251 unique instructors, graduate students, and staff members. Most of these workshops are an hour or two in length, but others are multi-day events such as the Instructional Skills Workshop or the Teaching Excellence Academy.
Other CTE events provide opportunities for UWaterloo instructors to share their teaching expertise with each other. The Teaching Squares program, for example, facilitates instructors visiting each other's classrooms.
For departments and programs, we provide assistance in undertaking curriculum renewal. To support research and teaching enhancement, we administer a grant program, and to celebrate teaching excellence we coordinate a number of teaching awards.
