There are two main types of undergraduate programs at Waterloo: entry programs and majors.
You can apply directly to an entry program (because that's how you "enter" university). Sometimes an entry program automatically becomes your major (as is the case for programs in the faculties of Engineering and Environment).
For most of our majors, you need to apply to an entry program and then choose your major either in first or second year. The chart lists our majors and the entry program(s) you would need to apply to.
Confusing? Here are some examples.
- Civil Engineering is an entry point (as well as automatically being your major).
- Earth Sciences is a major. You apply to Physical Sciences and then choose Earth Sciences as your major.
Email our Visitors Centre if you'd like any clarification about entry programs and majors.
