Leading Through Change Without Burning Out Yourself or Your Team

Tuesday, October 7, 2025 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Workshop Overview

Change is constant, but how we lead through it can either fuel us or accelerate burnout. In this interactive lab for Leadership Lab: People Leadership, we’ll explore the dual challenge leaders face: guiding teams through ongoing uncertainty while protecting their own energy and capacity.

Together, we’ll reflect on the impact of change, identify the signs of burnout (in ourselves and our teams), and share practical strategies for creating stability, focus, and support while navigating shifting priorities. Through personal reflection and group discussion, participants will gain tools to help them lead with clarity, empathy, and purpose – without sacrificing wellbeing.

Workshop Framework

Leadership Lab: People Leadership offers a comfortable and supportive space for managers, supervisors, and folks leading people at the University to co-create an informal peer community. Using the Circles of Influence Framework to guide the conversation, participants will reflect on their leadership style and practices, identify where their control and influence lie with respect to the session’s specified theme, and learn from each other how to approach various challenges.

We continue to hear from leaders, particularly those new to their roles, that it would be helpful to have intentional space in which they could collectively think through the “how to’s” of being the leader they want to be. And we know that many leaders work in isolation, making it harder to seek peer feedback in real time. Leadership Lab is one way in which such peer feedback can be fostered, all while receiving and providing each other compassionate care.

Each meeting will focus on a specific theme connected to the University community.
