Welcome to Independent Studies!

The Independent Studies (IS) program has existed at the University of Waterloo since 1969. Over the years, IS has evolved and progressed to be a remarkable and unique university program — the only one of its kind in Canada.

We welcome you to explore this site and learn more about our program and its components including the innovative and fascinating people involved: students, past and present, faculty, and staff.

For more information about the Independent Studies program or to provide your reflections on our website, contact isinfo@uwaterloo.ca.
