Beauty, Ethnicity and Justifiability: How Evaluation Mode Influences Decisions
All decisions are made in either the joint evaluation mode (when multiple options are available for comparison), or the single evaluation mode (when only one option is available for consideration), or some combination of the two. In this talk, I will present evidence that decisions made under these two evaluation modes are often inconsistent, explain why they are inconsistent, and show the implications of the inconsistencies in a wide range of domains, including marketing, social interactions, jury decisions, and college admissions.
