Partners Transforming Curling: Winter 2026 newsletter

Overview

This newsletter shares updates from Phase 2 of the Partners Transforming Curling project as the team moves into the final stage of the work. Rather than producing a traditional report, the project has focused on knowledge-sharing activities designed to encourage reflection, conversation, and community learning across curling environments. The newsletter introduces the our 'house is your house' framework, encouraging clubs to imagine their facility as a shared home and reflect on how they treat guests.

Updates from Cape Breton University (Halifax)

During the 2025 Olympic Curling Trials in Halifax, the CBU team supported Nova Scotia Curling through community outreach research. Dr. Simon Barrick led a case study evaluation of Festival of Rings and Curling Ambassador activities, which introduced thousands of people many from underrepresented communities to curling. Data analysis is ongoing, with key findings expected in Spring 2026

Updates from St. Thomas University

The St. Thomas University team reviewed Canadian curling websites to examine how diversity and inclusion are represented. The review highlighted positive efforts while identifying opportunities to improve visibility of inclusion policies, accessibility information, and diverse representation. The full review will be shared on the project website

Looking ahead

Similar events are being planned for the Brier in St. John’s and the Women’s World Championship in Calgary. The team will also attend events on site to share materials and continue conversations about belonging in curling.

Partners are invited to connect with us, share ideas, suggest events, or invite the team to their region. The project continues to grow through collaboration and shared learning.
