The Graduate Association of Recreation and Leisure Studies (GARLS) was founded at the University of Waterloo in 1992 by a group of passionate and dedicated graduate students in the fields of Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, and Parks, Policy, and Tourism Studies. Over twenty years later, we strive to continue down new paths with the same curiosity as those students.
The association organizes numerous workshops and events in addition to hosting the annual Graduate Leisure Research Symposium.
