Welcome to the Faculty of Arts, a dynamic community of students, faculty and staff working in and across the humanities, social sciences and creative arts. Our ideas and actions are propelled by curiosity, creativity, and a deep commitment to contribute to a better world.

The Faculty of Arts acknowledges that we live and work on the traditional territory of ‎the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes ten kilometers on each side of the Grand River. Learn more about territorial acknowledgement.

    Members of the Faculty of Arts gathered on April 25 in the Hagey Hall Hub, along with University leaders, to celebrate the 2018 Arts Awards for Excellence in Service, Teaching, and Research. The annual event - known as Celebration of Arts - also recognizes the many accomplishments of members of the Faculty, from SSHRC grants to Killam fellowships to distinguished teaching.
