Welcome to Arts Connect! We are here to help connect students with the supports that they need to succeed at Waterloo. If you are a student seeking for support for yourself or a peer, check out the "for students" section below. Instructors, please view the "for instructors" section.
For Students
Contact your academic advisor at artsadvisor@uwaterloo.ca, if:
- you are struggling academically;
- you are having difficulty with the transition to university studies;
- you are concerned about your own or a classmate’s physical, mental, or overall wellbeing; or
- you need support or a referral regarding sexual violence or a human rights violation (policy 33 and policy 42).
Your email will be vetted by the AUO Student Services Assistant and may be forwarded to a third party if deemed necessary. In these instances you will be copied on the forwarded message.
Expected response time: 24-48 hours (except weekends)
If any of the above pertains to you, but you are not comfortable contacting your academic advisor, we encourage you to use the Mental Health Widget (also available on your course LEARN pages) to determine appropriate supports.
Emails should include:
- Subject line: "Arts Connect [student message]"
- Student name and ID number.
- Summary of situation/concern.
- Course, if applicable.
Note:
- If this is an urgent matter concerning your safety/well-being or that of a classmate, follow the emergency instructions found on the After hours support page.
- Disclosures of a personal nature will be treated with confidentiality in accordance to information and privacy regulations.
Do not contact your academic advisor if:
- you have questions about coursework, or assignments;
- you wish to request an extension or accommodation; or
- you wish to meet with your instructor or TA.
For course/coursework focused queries (including those listed directly above), you will need to contact your instructor or TA as stated in the course outline.
