“Doing” Critical Race Theory in Gender and Social Justice Classrooms

Description

  • Looking specifically at the Gender and Social Justice (GSJ) program at the University of Waterloo (UW), this project will examine how GSJ instructors teach about race.
    • When instructors becoming intentional anti-racist practitioners, CRP literature emphasizes better academic student achievement as a benefit.
  • All project scholarship will be available on the GSJ website for broader dissemination across UW to better understand how CRT and CRP are employed. 

Questions Investigated

  • How is race discussed in GSJ classrooms?  
  • How is student learning about race assessed and/ or understood in GSJ classrooms?  
  • How do current events impact if/ how race is discussed in GSJ classrooms?
