Description
Models of blended learning, including the flipped classroom, purposefully utilize a combination of learning activities that occur both inside and outside of the formal in-person class time. The thoughtful integration of both in and out of class learning activities enables students to learn more effectively and increase their satisfaction with their educational experience. Participants in this workshop will engage in various activities to work through a course redesign process specific to blended learning with an emphasis on a flipped classroom model. Takeaways include designing at least one course module and identifying ways to encourage student engagement. The workshop itself will model a flipped course format, with online pre-work to complete before interactive in-person meeting times. Participants will learn from one another and receive guidance from CTE and CEL consultants.
This workshop, held over two half-days, will help participants begin the process of redesigning a course using a flipped or other blended model approach.
By the end of this intensive workshop, you should be able to:
- Develop an aligned course for delivery using a flipped or other blended format that integrates online and in-person components for a cohesive student learning experience.
- Review your work critically to ensure alignment, integration, appropriate workload, and inclusive instruction.
