Making the Past Come Alive in the Reacting Classroom

Wednesday, May 11, 2016 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Teaching Workshop with Dr. Troy Osborne

Consisting of elaborate games set in the past, Reacting to the Past (RTTP) seeks to immerse students in the past by assigning them roles based on classic texts or research in the period. Students run class sessions while the instructor advises students and assesses their written and oral work. The pedagogy seeks to engage students with big ideas, empathize with actors from the past, and improve their speaking and writing skills.  It also builds community among students as they work together or as opponents.  Join Troy Osborne as he introduces you to the pedagogy while you decide the fate of ancient Athens.
