Piazza

Wednesday, June 24, 2015 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Piazza is an online Q and A platform that blends the functionality of a discussion forum with that of a wiki. Piazza empowers students by helping them ask and answer their own questions, under the guidance of their instructor. Several dozen instructors at UWaterloo already use Piazza in their courses, as do another 30,000 instructors at other institutions, in disciplines such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Psychology, and Biology.

UWaterloo instructors can learn more about Piazza on Wednesday, June 24 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Two representatives from Piazza will be present to provide a demo and overview, along with three UWaterloo instructors who will share their experiences in using the tool (those instructors are Olga Zorin from Computer Science, James Thompson from the School of Accounting and Finance, and Cyntha Struthers from Statistics & Actuarial Science). After the session, attendees will be well equipped to assess whether Piazza can enhance their courses. The session will take place in MC 1056.

Registration for the event is not required.

This session is co-sponsored by the Centre for Teaching Excellence, the Faculty of Mathematics, and the Cheriton School of Computer Science.
