Spreadsheets + science = career success
Global challenges such as fighting disease, creating clean energy, and protecting the planet need more than science. They need people who combine financial insight with strategic thinking to turn research into real solutions. The world doesn’t just need great scientists; it needs scientists who make sure breakthroughs reach those who need them.
Science and Financial Management is a one-of-a-kind program that integrates science with accounting and finance. You’ll choose a science specialization in Biotechnology, Earth and Water Science, or Physics of Systems and Energy while working toward a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
With 16 months of paid co-op experience throughout the program, you’ll turn classroom learning into real impact by working in research labs and/or helping innovative organizations make financial decisions. You’ll graduate with a powerful mix of skills that will help you lead change and solve problems that matter.

What courses will you take?
First-year courses
You'll need to complete all required courses for one of the accounting or finance specializations. The pathway you choose will determine the SAF specializations they are eligible for.

This a sample schedule. When you choose a science specialization, your first-year courses will remain the same, other than the introductory Biology, Physics, or Earth Sciences course taken during January to April. Detailed information about which courses to take will be provided during course selection in June and July.

Co-op work-study sequence
Starting in second year, you'll normally alternate between school and work every four months, integrating your classroom learning with real-world experience. You can return to the same employer for a couple of work terms to gain greater knowledge and responsibility or work for different employers to get a broad range of experience.
Your first work term will be in the winter term of second year.

Admission requirements
Ontario students: six Grade 12U and/or M courses including
- English (ENG4U) (minimum final grade of 70% is required)
- Advanced Functions (minimum final grade of 70% is required)
- Calculus and Vectors (minimum final grade of 70% is required)
- Two of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Mathematics of Data Management, or Physics
Admission averages: Low to mid-80s
