The Role

  • Compliance with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients
  • Provide feedback to the supervisor regarding patient participation and general response to activities and out of ordinary behaviour
  • Ensures the safety of patients during activities including environmental safety and patients’ equipment.
  • Promote the benefit of participating in Wellness Activities to patients
  • Based on the functional guidance of Interprofessional Team, plan and administer activities and programs developed by care teams to meet the needs of TCU patients.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the activity programs
  • Provide 1:1 Wellness activities and socialization to vulnerable population
  • Other duties assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Completed or working towards a post-secondary degree or diploma in a social service focus (Mental health, SSW, Social Work, Recreation, ETC)
  • Good attendance is required
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and an ability to carry out these requirements to the fullest
  • Sound judgment and ability to work independently
  • Must be proficient in English both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working with office computer applications, databases and other general office equipment

Desired skills or assets

  • Fluency in other languages (Portuguese, Mandarin, Spanish, ASL, etc.) as an asset
  • Clinical working environment experience as an asset
  • CPR and/or BCLS as an asset
  • Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Person-Centered Care, and Infection Control and Risk Management
