Welcome to the Faculty of Arts, a dynamic community of students, faculty and staff working in and across the humanities, social sciences, and fine, performing and media arts.
Through our diverse range of research, teaching, and learning, we contribute positive social impacts in a culturally complex and technologically driven world. Aligned with the University of Waterloo’s strengths in work-integrated learning, Arts prepares students for life and for work with skills and values that emphasize the welfare of individuals, communities, and the environments in which we live.

Celebrating the tenure of Dean Sheila Ager
Faculty of Arts and campus colleagues gathered to celebrate Dr. Sheila Ager’s five-year tenure as Dean. Emceed by Doug Peers, former Dean of Arts (a “has-dean”), there were reflections, laughs, and almost-tears shared by friends, colleagues, and family. Speakers included Bob Kerton, Dean of Arts Emeritus, Mary Wells, Dean of Engineering, Lili Lui, Dean of Health, Dean Ager’s brother, and the dean herself.

The Practice of Interdisciplinary Research: Learning Through Successes and Challenges
Drawing on diverse experiences working with interdisciplinary teams, this panel session will explore strategies for building and managing interdisciplinary research teams and projects. This session is ideal for researchers aiming to deepen their interdisciplinary approach and broaden the impact of their work.
