Unfortunately, this Indigenous Speakers Series event is cancelled due to an unexpected, but important, engagement that has arisen for Marie Clements. Please mark your calendar for our next planned event on January 18, featuring writer and publisher Kateri Akiwenze-Damm, addressing issues of cultural appropriation.

Marie Clements (Métis/Dene) is an award-winning writer, director and producer specializing in the development, creation and production of innovative works of media that ignite an Indigenous and intercultural reality.

Clements recently completed the feature musical documentary The Road Forward with The National Film Board, which premiered at The Hot Docs Film Festival this spring.

The Indigenous Speakers Series is co-presented by the Waterloo Aboriginal Education Centre and the Faculty of Arts. The series highlights the voices of Indigenous artists, writers, activists, and leaders from across Turtle Island, offering UWaterloo students, faculty and staff opportunities to learn from, understand, and engage with Indigenous issues.
