Taylor Legere
Congratulations to Arts and Business student Taylor Legere for being selected Co-op Student of the Year (Arts). For her eight-month Winter/Spring 2019 work term, Taylor served as an Operations Coordinator at the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation in UWaterloo’s Faculty of Environment. During her time there, she created a "Three Steps to Basement Flood Protection Infographic" which has been shared broadly across Canada. Legere also developed an app mock-up for her team that provided residents with a customized action list on how to reduce their flood risk.

Every year, one student from each faculty is presented with a Co-op Student of the Year Award for exceptional contributions to one or more of their work term employers.

Graduating this June, Taylor majored in Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) and minored in Fine Arts. She has done it all during her co-op career from working at RBC to the Government of Ontario to UWaterloo’s University Relations. Her time at the Intact Centre led to a part-time job researching flood prevention, urban heat, and wildfires where she bridged her interests in PACS and the environment.

Outside of co-op Taylor has been heavily involved around campus. In her first year she was prominent in re-establishing the PACS Society and served as Co-President from Fall 2015 to Winter 2017. In this role she ran various events for her fellow PACS students such as movie nights and panel discussions. In 2018, Taylor was part of the Intercollegiate Peace Fellowship Planning Committee which brought together students from thirteen schools for a three-day conference on Restorative Justice.
