The Faculty of Arts and Office of Research are convening an international, interdisciplinary conference, From Targeting in Academia to Promoting Trust and Understanding, June 27-28, 2024. This fall Arts welcomed AMTD Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Elena Caruso, who is based in the Department of Political Science. Dr. Caruso's research aims to question the role of the state in the regulation of abortion, to reshape dominant legal paradigms in abortion care, and to draw important lessons for the future of health technologies. 

The Faculty of Arts is very proud to share that Dr. Sara A. Hart will hold the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Developmental Science, based in the Department of Psychology. Hart is an expert in developmental psychology who is at the forefront of using precision education to understand how and why some children struggle to learn to read and do math.

The Arts Quad was filled with good vibes, solidarity and advocacy at The Urgency of Social Justice event on September 20. Presented by the Gender and Social Justice program, students, staff, faculty, and community members gathered to build awareness and strengthen support for social justice activities on campus and off.

Dr. Colin MacLeod, Distinguished Professor Emeritus from the Department of Psychology, has received the 2023 Clifford T. Morgan Distinguished Leadership Award from the Psychonomic Society, the major international organization for cognitive psychology.

Students in this spring term’s Introduction to Critical Design Thinking (SPCOM 149/THPERF 149) shared their work in public spaces on campus, expressing ideas and solidarity, and raising awareness toward social and environmental action.
