Improving Feedback on Written Assignments (CTE245)

Monday, January 15, 2018 9:30 am - 11:30 am EST (GMT -05:00)
Location: EV1 241
Facilitator: Tommy Mayberry (CTE)

Workshop description

Feedback on both short and lengthy written assignments plays a critical role in students' learning about disciplinary content, as well as communication conventions. Yet this mode of instruction often yields dissatisfaction from both students and instructors. In this workshop, we consider how to improve the effectiveness of written feedback to ensure that the time and effort instructors put into providing feedback fosters student learning. We identify challenges to providing feedback to students, define strategies for improving our approaches, and practice hands-on feedback techniques.
