Overcoming the Impostor Phenomenon (CTE184)

Monday, September 26, 2016 9:30 am - 11:00 am EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: EV1 241

Description: Feel like a fraud? You’re not alone. Many graduate students question whether they are prepared to do the work they do as researchers and teaching assistants. This workshop delves into this “impostor phenomenon,” exploring why it’s so common in academia, and strategies you can use to overcome it. You will have an opportunity to reflect on why you feel like an impostor, and engage in discussions about how to manage these feelings of self-doubt, both personally and at the institutional level.

Facilitator: Stephanie Verkoeyen, CTE

Notes:

  • Open to all graduate students (registration required).
  • Participants will receive an attendance credit if they arrive on time and stay until the end of the event.
