Teaching Demonstrations for Academic Jobs (CTE256)

Wednesday, February 15, 2017 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Location: EV1 241

Description: As part of the academic job interview process, academic hiring committees in Canada and the US are increasingly asking short-listed job applicants to do a teaching demonstration. Teaching demonstrations are different from the research talk and are used as a way to assess candidates' teaching effectiveness. In this session, you will learn about the most common formats for teaching demonstrations as well as get advice on how to prepare and deliver a successful teaching demonstration.

Facilitator: Meghan Riley, CCA

Notes:

  • Participants will receive an attendance credit if they arrive on time and stay until the end of the event.
  • Important information regarding fundamentals credit: On Feb 15, 2017 CTE is offering CTE252 and CTE 256. Participants are encouraged to attend both workshops, but can only receive up to 1 credit maximum for attending both workshops.
