If you've applied for admission and haven't heard back from us yet, hang in there! We'll be sending more offers of admissions over the next few weeks.

For many programs, we wait for second semester midterm grades to better understand and compare the qualifications of students who have applied for admission this year. We'll receive these grades in late April and we'll have all offers of admission for high school students sent by mid-May.

April 15 is the deadline for a number of scholarship applications in the faculties of Environment, Health, and Science, as well as

  • students of African, African American, Afro-Latine, Black Canadian, Caribbean, or other African descent;
  • First Nations community (Status/Non-Status), Inuit, and/or Métis students; and
  • Black and Indigenous Students in Engineering programs.

View our scholarships page for details and application forms.

Bursary deadline for Ontario students

April 15 is also the deadline to apply for an Entrance Bursary (which is based on financial need).

Waterloo was ranked 97th in the world in the Times Higher Education’s (THE) World Reputation Rankings for 2025, which surveyed more than 55,000 researchers and scholars from around the globe.

“Our professors and students continue to embrace Waterloo’s unconventional roots to push the envelope when it comes to innovation, entrepreneurship, co-op and work-integrated learning at scale with impact,” says Vivek Goel, Waterloo’s president and vice-chancellor.

The University of Waterloo earned a gold rating for sustainability through a North American evaluation for universities and colleges.

The STARS program, administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, measures various ways that colleges and universities are supporting sustainability.

The evaluation looks at more than 60 indicators that cover academics, engagement, operations, planning and administration, and innovation and leadership.
