The Housing and Residences team is comprised of four business units:
Student Development and Residence Life
These staff members are focused on making your experience in residence the best one you can have by offering support, mentorship and programming.
These staff members are focused on maintenance, cleaning and capital improvements to all residences to ensure you keep having a great experience through your stay.
Housing Occupancy & Marketing Services
These staff members are focused on your experience learning about residence, the application process, and ongoing communications throughout the term.
Office of the Director
These staff members are focused on special projects, finance and systems management to assist other business units with offering an exceptional residence experience.
While you are here, you will encounter many of our friendly staff who are here to help our students succeed. Some of these staff include:
Front Desk Assistants (FDA)
FDAs are students who work at the front desks in many of our residence buildings to support students and visitors with a wide variety needs, including: printing, faxing and photocopying; parcel pick-up and mail distribution; signing out equipment; providing you with general information about residence and campus.
Peer Leaders are upper-year students who act as a mentor and academic support for students who are part of a Living-Learning Community. They support students achieve their academic goals by facilitating study sessions, 1-1 meetings and connecting students to faculty events.
Dons are upper-year students who live and work in residence. They help everyone get acquainted, build a sense of community, answer questions, plan activities, assist with problems, and uphold policies and rules.
Residence Facilities Coordinators, Housekeepers and Resident Attendants
Our Residence Facilities Coordinators, Housekeepers and Resident Attendants are here to ensure our students live in a clean, safe and well-maintained environment. They support student success by working collaboratively to ensure our facilities remain in tip-top shape.
Residence Life Co-ordinators (RLC)
RLCs are full-time, live-in staff who oversee the residence life component of Housing and directly supervise the Dons. RLCs are an excellent resource, supporting student success by fostering supportive teams and a sense of community through events and activities.

Waterloo Residences is a non-profit unit at the University of Waterloo.
We aim for transparency about where our money comes from, where the money goes (services, initiatives, repairs), and proposed future fees:
