and effective, and targets varied audiences appropriately.

As social media coordinator and content creator, your main goal will be to create, produce,
edit, and launch social media posts and campaigns over various platforms such as
Facebook, lnstagram, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Drafts of some content will be provided;
you will need to adapt the messages to various audiences and follow the University of
Waterloo branding guide.

Reporting directly to the Chair of the UWTL Conference and working closely with the
members of the Organizing Committee, the Communications and Outreach Assistant will
perform the following duties:

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Canva, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop,
Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro) an asset. (Access to these tools will be
    provided by UWTL.)
  • Working knowledge of video creating/editing experience for platforms like
    YouTube, lnstagram stories.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated skills to write across genres and
    platforms an asset.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and to creating accessible content.
  • A smartphone will be required for this role; a laptop computer will be provided.

Desired skills or assets

  • Join the Organizing Committee of the University of Waterloo Teaching and Learning
Conference 2025 to amplify the Conference’s presence across social media platforms and
provide user analytics. We are committed to creating accessible social media content.
  • Availability on April 30 and May 1 is required for the role.

The 105 hours of this position will be distributed as follows:

    • 83 hours during the Winter semester (5-6 hours/week).

    • 20 hours on April 30 and May 1 (conference days).

20 hours over two days may seem like a lot, but these are not 20 hours of active work, as
there are quite a few lulls on Conference Days.

    • On April 30, there is a small rush at the start of the Conference (9:30-10:00am), then
at the end of each 60-minute session.

    • On May 1, there is a rush in the morning (8:00-10:30am), another one at lunchtime
(1:00-2:30pm), and a smaller one as we wrap up the day (5:30-6:30pm).

    • In between rushes, students are expected to remain on site and be available, but
    can perform personal work.

How to apply: Please attach your resume to demonstrate your experience and creativity.
We look forward to seeing how you can contribute to our dynamic committee!
