Health Clinical Skills Lab Series
The Health Clinical Skills Lab Series is a recurring professional development initiative designed to bridge in-class learning with practical, real-world skill application for students interested in clinical work currently enrolled in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Health Studies, and Kinesiology. Led by Health faculty and/or practicing professionals from a range of health and clinical settings, these 1-2 hour workshops give students hands-on exposure to the practical competencies, professional pathways, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills needed to succeed in clinical and community-based placements, co-op terms, and future certification or registration processes (e.g., NCTRC/CTRS, R/TRO, and other relevant professional designations across health disciplines).
Each lab is a focused, skills-based session facilitated by a faculty member and/or practicing health professional (e.g., CTRS/R/TRO-credentialed TR practitioners, kinesiologists, health promotion specialists, or other trainees moving toward allied health professions) and covers a specific practical topic relevant to clinical and community health work. Workshops are offered outside regular class time and are open to interested undergraduate students across participating programs.
