Dr. Heather Mair, a Recreation and Leisure Studies professor, has been named a 2024 The Academy of Leisure Sciences (TALS) Fellow. TALS Fellows are leaders within the leisure profession who are nominated by current Fellows. They demonstrate outstanding performance within the field of leisure, whether as a teacher, leader, administrator, practitioner or researcher.

“I have long admired individuals elected as Fellows of The Academy of Leisure Sciences, including some of my wonderful RLS colleagues, said Mair. It’s an incredible honour to be included in this amazing group of leisure scholars.

Crystal-Jade (CJ) Cargill, a Recreation and Leisure Studies master’s student, has also been recognized by TALS as a Future Scholar. This award recognizes master's students who are interested in pursuing their PhD in recreation and leisure studiesCJ travelled to New Orleans at the end of January for the annual conference.
