CTE welcomes back Samar Mohamed!

CTE would like to welcome back Samar Mohamed to her role as Faculty Liaison for Engineering. For the past year, while her husband has been on sabbatical, Samar has been on leave with her family. She’s eager to start working again with her faculty members! During her absence, Tiuley Alguindigue ably filled in for Samar, and has returned to her position of Lab Instructor in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

CTE Instructional Developer Monica Vesely and Senior Instructional Developer Katherine Lithgow have received funds through the Staff International Experience Fund (SIEF) to learn from colleagues in educational development in the UK, the Netherlands, and Australia. Administered by Waterloo International, the SIEF program allows selected staff members to embark on an international experience that advances the University’s strategic objectives and supports their professional development.

The sixth annual Women in Physics Canada Conference is being held this week at Waterloo and will bring together early career scientists and leaders in physics. In her workshop on implicit bias, Crystal Tse, CTE's Instructional Developer, Research and Consulting, will introduce participants to what social psychology research has to say about prejudice and the impact implicit bias has on achievement, retention, and hiring in STEM. The Conference runs July 26-28.
