This fall, CTE is offering nine workshops over five days during our annual "Focus on Teaching Week." For Waterloo instructors, this provides an opportunity to explore ideas and strategies pertaining to teaching in a more sustained and purposeful way.

CTE hires new Faculty Liaison

CTE is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine Zaza has been hired as Faculty Liaison for Applied Health Sciences, as well as for certain departments in the Faculty of Arts (other departments in Arts will continue to be supported by Kyle Scholz. 

CTE Staff members have the privilege this week of providing a training program in Instructional Technologies to 34 instructors who are visiting from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. Workshops in the program cover topics such as the flipped classroom, ePortfolios, concept mapping tools, clickers, data visualization tools, wikis, blended learning, and more. 

In collaboration with the Office of the Associate Vice President, Academic, CTE is pleased to announced that three new LITE Seed Grant projects will begin this May.

The Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE) has a unique job opportunity open for six graduate students registered at the University of Waterloo. The position runs from September 2014 through August 2015. Candidates must be available for training in August 2014.

Kashif Memon, an academic advisor, coordinator, and lecturer for Science and Business, has been teaching at the University of Waterloo since 2005. His students and colleagues give high praise to his dedication to excellence in teaching, his devotion to advising and mentoring, and his sincere concern for students. In addition, using group discussions in his classroom has made a valuable impact on student learning.
