Minimum Wage Changes October 1, 2022

The minimum wage rates in Ontario are increasing on October 1, 2022 as summarized in the following table:

Minimum wage rate Current wage rate Effective October 1, 2022
General minimum wage – applies to most employees $15.00 per hour $15.50 per hour
Student minimum wage – applies to students under the age of 18 who work 28 hours a week or less when school is in session, or work during a school break or summer holidays $14.10 per hour $14.60 per hour
  • Each summer our extended health and dental benefits provider requires confirmation of eligible overage dependent children to properly resolve adjudicate claims.
  • Employees with dependent(s) who will be between the ages of 21 and 25 during the upcoming Academic year (September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2023) are asked to review and update their dependent’s student status in Workday.

What you need to do: To ensure continued coverage for your dependent(s) please log in to Workday to review and update their student status no later than August 19, 2022. For detailed instructions, please refer to the Workday User Guide for Overage Dependents posted on the Workday resources website.
