REC 312 involves an unpaid placement in an organization related to recreation, sport, business or tourism. The placement will require 105 hours interspersed over one academic term (15 weeks). The course will be offered on a credit/no credit basis.

How do I find a placement?
- Start by submitting the web form below.
- The Community Outreach and Communications Specialist will be in contact with you to set up a meeting and go over some of your options.
- You can research some ideas as to where you would like to work prior to your meeting with the Community Outreach and Communications Specialist.
*Note: It is ultimately up to the course instructor to approve your placement. It must be related to recreation, sport, business or tourism.
Are any placements paid?
Normally placements are not paid although this is not a requirement.
Do I need to interview for the position?
Yes, most organizations will interview you for the position to make sure you are a good fit.
How do I enrol in the course?
What documents do I have to submit?
Once you have secured your placement you will need to submit the following documents in the dropbox on Learn.
- Practicum agreement form
- You must submit this before starting the placement
- Professional and personal goals
- These are submitted after starting the placement and conversing with your placement supervisor
- Mid term evaluation
- Submitted after around 50 hours
- Final evaluation
- Submitted after completion of the 105 hours
- Final paper
- Due two weeks after your final day
You will receive all of these documents and further explanations in your student information package after submitting the web form.
Is there any academic work required?
Students will complete a minimum 10 page paper (double-spaced, including title page, at least eight pages of text, and references) that reflects on the integration of academic content (i.e., business and event management principles and theories) within the placement.
