Co-op student experience

Co-op Student Experience Project

At Waterloo, we have more than 60 years of experience in positioning and inspiring our students for the future of work and learning. Throughout that time, our co-op program has grown and changed to meet the needs of our students and the demands of a shifting labour market, as we continue to look for ways to improve our outcomes for you, our students.

In fall 2018, we launched the Co-op Student Experience Project to learn more about your experience of our processes and services, and how we can keep improving. Through this project, we've established an ongoing feedback process to better understand your evolving needs as co-op students, and have partnered with students and others across campus to turn your feedback into tangible results.

The latest improvements to come from your feedback as of fall 2019 are:

ranking optionsIncreased ranking optionsCo-op students can now submit up to three "not interested" rankings per term to guarantee that they will not be matched with a job.

Increased interview optionsIncreased interview optionsCo-op students now have increased options to request relief from interviews if they are feeling overwhelmed by their interview schedule.

By implementing the outcomes above, we hope to increase the amount of choice you have when ranking jobs in WaterlooWorks and protect your well-being overall when balancing personal, academic and work search demands.

In addition to these two outcomes, the project team will continue to gather and analyze student feedback to add to our understanding of the end-to-end co-op student experience and how we can continue to help you thrive.
