University Professor M. Tamer Özsu has been named a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. This honorary title is awarded to leading professors and scholars of the highest international reputation.
Cheriton School of Computer Science alumnus Ulkar Akhundzada (BCS 2015), a software development manager at Mappedin, has developed an app that gives people a taste of fame, and has received recognition of her own in the process.

Computer Science Professor Emeritus Bruce Simpson of Waterloo, Ontario, passed away on December 11, 2020 at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener. Bruce had been living with Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia for several years.
