When you play pat-a-cake with your baby, you might think you’re just enjoying a fun game. However, child experts say rhymes, songs, and finger play actually help our children develop early literacy skills and build the foundations for a lifetime of learning.

The American Cancer Society is pleased to share with the global tobacco control community the names of the recipients of the 2015 Luther L. Terry Awards for Exemplary Leadership in Tobacco Control. The awards are named for the late United States Surgeon General Luther L. Terry, MD, who led the landmark 1964 Surgeon General’s report that connected tobacco use to lung cancer and other illnesses.

As psychologists learn more about the factors that determine where a child falls along the shyness spectrum, they're also finding ways to prevent bashfulness from becoming a setback.

Four professors from the University of Waterloo received new and renewed Canada Research Chair appointments announced today.  The researchers are from the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts, and the appointments are worth $2.9 million in funding.
