CTE supports graduate students at Waterloo through certificate programs, workshops, one-on-one consultations about teaching and teaching dossiers, and teaching observation.

Certificate programs
Waterloo graduate students and postdoctoral scholars can complete individual workshops and/or enroll in one of our certificate programs:
- Fundamentals of University Teaching* (graduate students & postdoctoral scholars)
- Certificate in University Teaching (CUT) (graduate students)
- Certificate in University Language Teaching (CULT) (doctoral students in languages)
- New Instructor Foundations (NIF) (upcoming grad student or postdoc course instructors)
Partnership with departments
Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars completing different partnered programs may be granted credits towards specific parts of a CTE certificate program. Partnered programs included are:
- Foundations in University Teaching in Statistics and Actuarial Science training program
- Math 900 (Faculty of Mathematics)
- ExpecTAtions teaching assistant training (Faculty of Engineering)
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) (Faculty of Arts)
- ELMS 601R or EMLS 621R (graduate students)
- CEL
