Fourth-year Recreation and Sport Business student and varsity field hockey player Larissa McLeod received the U SPORTS Gail Wilson Award last Thursday, October 31 at the U SPORTS Field Hockey award gala in Victoria, B.C. This award is given to a player who has contributed greatly to her sport, academics and greater community. She was also named a U SPORTS All-Canadian.
Two graduate students receive Mitacs Globalink research abroad awards
Congratulations to PhD student Haley Baxter and MA student Jordana Milne who received Mitacs Globalink Research Awards. The $6,000 award provides opportunities for undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdorctoral fellows at Canadian universities to build international research networks and undertake research for 12-24 weeks at a university abroad.
Experiential learning grants received

Andrew MacDonald receives top student research poster
Andrew MacDonald earned the Top Student Research Poster at the 2018 Latornell Conservation Symposium in Alliston Ontario for his poster presentation title, "Fostering environmentally informed visitors through smartphones in Ontario's protected areas."* The Latornell Conservation Symposium is one of Ontario's premier annual environmental events and aims to address challenges and opportunities that Ontario's conservation field faces.
