Residence and student life

Many of your best university memories will undoubtedly come from experiences like late nights chats in residence, meeting new people through clubs, or scoring the winning goal for your soccer team.

With guaranteed residence for first-year and transfer students, you can live in the middle of the action. You'll be close to your classes, labs and tutorials, the Student Life Centre, gyms, places to eat, and more. Each of Waterloo's first-year residences offer personal and academic support such as Living-Learning Communities and academic clusters, residence life staff, and social activities to help you adjust to living away from home.

Residence plans for fall and winter

Waterloo Residences will be open to students for the fall term. Whether your classes are online or in-person, you're welcome to live in residence. Learn more about living in residence for September.

If you're interested in applying to residence for the winter term (January to April), applications open on July 28 and can be found on the housing website.
