I work closely with the Administrative Co-ordinator, Associate Director, and Director of First-Year Engineering. In this role, I am involved in:

  • academic advising for first-year engineering students on topics such as study skills, transfers, electives, promotion rules, and extenuating circumstances;
  • examinations and promotions (E and P) where I review end-of-term marks and promotion decisions, prepare and present petitions on behalf of students to the E and P committee
  • academic discipline cases where I investigate allegations of academic offences and draft informal resolutions for academic discipline
  • professional development of our Waterloo Engineering Endowment Fund Teaching Assistants (WEEF TAs), the upper-year engineering students available to help first-year students to succeed at UWaterloo.

I was an instructor with the Department of Chemical Engineering where I taught courses from basic Chemical Engineering concepts, to distillation column design, to food process engineering. Currently, I teach first-year courses such as Chemistry for Engineers. My research interests focus on engineering education and studying how students learn to improve teaching and learning at UWaterloo.
