Course evaluations

Oversight of Waterloo Engineering's course evaluation process falls under the Associate Dean, Teaching portfolio. This process includes communicating with each department to verify class schedule information, collaborating with undergraduate and graduate student volunteers, and distributing the results to instructors and department chairs.

Instructors receive a summary of the scores for each survey question plus written comments provided by students, and routinely consider this feedback when preparing for their next course offering. The Centre for Teaching Excellence and the Associate Dean, Teaching provide support to instructors on interpreting their course evaluation results. Course evaluation data are compiled and analyzed on an ongoing basis. This information, along with other factors, is used in the annual review of professors and in tenure and promotions deliberations.
