Invasions from Inner Space: Species Invasions and extinctions presented by Tom Stohlgren, a leading authority in the field of biological invasions, will examine creepy stories of biological invasions in your backyard from Asian carp to the emerald ash borer, zebra mussels and giant hogweed

Stohlgren, Senior Scientist at Colorado State University and Director of the National Institute of Invasive Species, will share his globally-recognized expertise in biological invasions. 

Stohlgren has been honoured with several Partners in Conservation Awards and the Meritorious Service Award and recently received the top honour in his field: Resident Distinguished Ecologist.
Named in honour of the late Walter Bean, the TD Walter Bean Visiting Professor upholds the legacy of community involvement and commitment to youth and education. Bean was the former president of Waterloo Trust until its merger with Canada Trust in 1968. The professorship attracts top researchers with international reputations who give lectures, teach classes, and engage in dialogue with faculty members. The lecture is hosted on a rotating basis by the faculties of engineering, environment and science at Waterloo.
