VICTORIA BRILZ, BASc 1985, Electrical Engineering and
KIP FYFE, BASc 1984, Electrical Engineering

Abstract: Since they were Waterloo Engineering students in the early 1980’s, Victoria Brilz and Kip Fyfe have been involved in entrepreneurial ventures, including Dynastream that was sold to Garmin in 2006.  Their current company, 4iiii Innovations, develops technologies that improve sports performance and make the athlete’s world safer. 4iiii Innovations products increase awareness and provide an uninterrupted and real-time flow of data needed to set a personal best athletic performance or achieve a podium position. Victoria and Kip will talk about their entrepreneurial journey from Waterloo Engineering to developing unique technologies to help athletes gain a winning edge.

Bio: Electrical engineering graduates Victoria Brilz and Kip Fyfe of 4iiii Innovations develop technologies that improve sports performance and make the athlete’s world safer. In 1999, they co-founded Dynastream, where they patented a running footpod sold through Nike and other high-profile companies. They then developed ANT+ as the ultra-low power wireless protocol, soon becoming an industry standard. After selling Dynastream to Garmin in 2006, their imaginations led them to start 4iiii Innovations, providing an ecosystem of interoperable wearables for both sport and general self-quantification all with the goal to provide relevant information ‘when you need it’.
