Faizul Mohee, a civil engineering doctoral candidate, has been honoured with the inaugural Ontario Society of Professional Engineers President’s Award in the Young Professional category. The award recognizes an exceptional Ontario Engineer who has served as an advocate for the engineering community through various roles during academic studies and following graduation. Mohee was presented with the award at OSPE's annual general meeting held May 6.
Additionally, he received an OSPE scholarship in recognition of his strong academic record and demonstrated commitment to his profession and community. Each year the OSPE awards just two scholarships to Ontario graduate students.
Mohee's doctoral research had been supervised by civil engineering professor Khaled Soudki who died in September 2013. He is now working with faculty members Adil Al-Mayah and Alan Plumtree.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
