enormous achievements in the field of pavement and transportation technology by naming this laboratory in his honour," said Pearl Sullivan, dean of engineering.

Haas, is one of just three academics to have been named Honorary Life Member of the Transportation Association of Canada. A graduate of the University of Alberta, he received a Distinguished Alumni Award by the University for his role in developing and implementing systems, concepts and technologies for managing networks of paved roads. The prestigious award presented to Haas last year recognizes graduates whose outstanding achievements have earned them national or international prominence.
