Three Waterloo Engineering professors are among nine across campus identified as the most cited researchers in the world by a global analytics firm.
Zhongwei Chen, a chemical engineering professor, Linda Nazar, a chemistry professor, crossed-appointment to chemical engineering, and Xuemin (Sherman) Shen, an electrical and computer engineering professor, are on Clarivate's 2021 Highly Cited Researchers list.
Clarivate identifies researchers who demonstrated “significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.”
According to the firm, names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top one per cent by citations for field and publication year in the company’s global citation index.
