Students at Waterloo Engineering had another strong showing at the recent Fall 2020 Concept $5K pitch competition.

Two of four teams that earned $5,000 prizes at the virtual event, which is staged three times a year, featured engineering members.

Ayush Bhargava, a first-year management engineering student, and Raymond Wu, a first-year biomedical engineering student, are members of ChangeRoom.

Raymond Wu is a biomedical engineering student at Waterloo.

ChangeRoom is described as a fashion-tech startup that connects sustainable clothing brands with eco-conscious consumers via a mobile marketplace.

Stefanie Bruinsma and Mike Cassell, both students in the master of business, entrepreneurship and technology program, are behind Miss Mechanic, an on-call automotive service support system provided by women, for women.

“I was so grateful to be surrounded by so much innovation and energy,” said Bruinsma, who has a degree in mechanical engineering from Waterloo.

Concept is an experiential entrepreneurship and pre-incubator program at the University of Waterloo. It is provided by Velocity, an incubator for early stage, pre-seed startup companies.
